Design Services
From an idea, a sketch or an old print to a 3D model and a finished part, all in one shop.
For years customers have brought us a worn part, a napkin sketch or a faded print and asked us to make it work. Now we offer that design work as a service of its own, with the machinists who will make the part looking over the design as it's drawn.
Custom project design
Tell us what it has to do. We design the part, fixture, tooling or machine component, and give you a model and drawings you can approve before anything is cut.
Prototyping
We model it, machine it, and you test it. Changes go back into the model and the next version comes off the same machines, so you get from idea to a working part quickly.
2D to 3D conversion
Paper prints, scanned drawings, PDFs and 2D DWG/DXF files rebuilt as accurate 3D CAD models, with updated drawings if you need them.
Designed by people who make parts
A design that looks right on screen can still be hard or expensive to make. Because we machine parts every day, we design with the shop in mind: sensible tolerances, standard tooling and material sizes, and features that can actually be reached with a cutter.
- Design for machining, grinding and heat treat
- Reverse engineering from a sample part, even a worn or broken one
- Fixtures, jigs and tooling for your own production
- Replacement parts for older machines with no drawings
- We make it here too, or hand you the files to use anywhere
How a design project runs
- Send what you have: a sketch, photos, an old print, a sample part, or just a description of what it has to do.
- We quote the design work quoted as a fixed price or by the hour?, and the machining if you want parts made.
- We model it and send it to you to review; changes are worked in until you approve it.
- We make the prototype or the parts, or deliver the files.
